Charged money -- Cannot use account

Let me get this straight. I was charged, C$35.88 on February 6, 2013 for a year. However, when I cancelled my account, I can no longer access films, because I must have an "active subscription?".

This is a joke, right?

I would like my money back. This is beyond unacceptable. If it would have stated so during the paying process, I would not have gone with Mubi.com. More and more I even regret finding this web site.
