newsletter by region?

Dears;
As registered to the mubi newsletter I am receiving the mail from hola@mubi with a movie suggestion and direct link to watch it.
but c' mon..why are you suggesting me a movie which is not available in my region? this only reinforce the frustration I have with mubi (in the Netherlands subtitles are frequently only in Dutch, and I do not speak the language, and many movies are not available in this region..)

would be an improvement to receive "regionally targeted" suggestion..

Imposibility to cancel my subscription to the service after free trial period (ps network)

I write these words very angry because of the imposibility to cancel my subscription after the free trial period that you promoted.

I tried to cancel in the ps3 mubi app, but it ́s imposible because it says that I should do it through the ps3 personal account, but the mubi service doesn ́t appear in my list of services in the ps3, so I can ́t cancel it.

I also cannot cancel it in the mubi website because I can ́t log in.

I ́ve been trying to cancel the subscription since the beginning of the month but it ́s not posible. I feel cheated because what was a free trial period, it already cost me money due to the automatic renewal of the subscription.

So please, cancel my subscription right now!!.

I can not get Mubi to play movies on my PS3. I received a message from you saying that this is because my PS3 account and Mubi account are not using the same web address .Sorry but this is incorrect, I used the same web address for both the PS3 and Mubi account, in fact when you enter Mubi on the PS3 you sign in via that address, It appears to me that Mubi does not actually work on the PS3. Is there actually a solution to this problem? I would love to subscribe to Mubi as it has a far superior collection of movies compared to Netflix, I was sent a free 30 day trial from Mubi which did not work, I then tried signing up for the free 14 day trial offered on your website this did not work either.

I signed up for a free trial and gave my card details, on the understanding that, if I continued, I would pay £2.99 per month. Now I find that £23.88 has been taken from my account at a time of year when I can ill afford it. So it seems that I've automatically been given an annual subscription, which I did not ask for and would never have agreed to. I feel cheated. Money has essentially been stolen from my bank account. Very unhappy.

Bonjour, comme je suis déçu de MUBI .... Je pensais vraiment avoir accès à la vidéothèque qu'ils nous montrent mais il n'en est rien. Les seuls films que je puisse voir pour ma région sont inintéressant et nul, avec un temps de visionnage de 1 min à 108 min si j'ai de la chance pour un film en turque ou iranien...

Pas génial comme truc. Je veux être remboursé de mon abonnement que je viens de passé à l'instant ... comment faire ?

I have successfully created a Mubi account and linked it to Sony Essentials account for my Bravia Internet connected TV. I have also, on the Mubi website, selected a number of films I would like to view. These films now appear listed on my Mubi profile page on the website. However I do not see this list of films appearing in the Mubi 'app' on my Bravia TV. Is it possible to see them there?

Got a trial period, but can't watch movies

I signed up earlier today, entered my card details, and received an email confirming my trial period has begun.
It's a 90-day trial through Picturehouses UK.
I log in and go to watch a film, it just takes me to the 'sign up for an account' page to enter credit card details yet again.

This one...
"You're signing up for a 7-day free trial of MUBI. If you decide to cancel anytime during the trial, we won't charge your credit card."

I don't want to sign up for a 7-day trial; I already have a 90-day one.

When I go into the site and look at 'Manage Account,' it knows my name, but says 'no active subscriptions'

Can a MUBI staffer please contact me?

My social apps doesn't work

Hi.
I was rating a few movies these days and realized that I'm not getting the response of the social apps on my twitter and FB accounts. I don't know what happened.
I already tried to reset my social configuration (including unlinking and linking the apps again) and still doesn't work.
Is there any problem?

I'm trying to sign up for the 90 day free trial through Picturehouse. I enter my membership number, then my payment details on the next screen but it won't let me go any further. After I click 'subscribe' the next page is always just an error message.

Hi,

I signed up for your site on PS3 and was excited to see that your catalog included ca. 14k movies and t.v. shows. A few moments later that excitement turned to disappointment when it was revealed that i would only be able to view 1049 movies out of your entire catalog of over 13,000.

For this reason I would like to cancel my subscription effective immediately. Perhaps at some point in future your service will offer a larger selection. Btw....I like the service....it's simple to sort through and provides understandable descriptions...i have no complaint about that side of it.

To the MUBI team: it has only just occured to me, as a relatively new member, that the claim to upload a new film a day is a little disingenuous, as at no point in the preamble to me signing up was it mentioned that films will also disappear. There have been several films on the list that I intended to watch, only to find that they have gone by the time I get around to watching them. This wouldn't be a problem if MUBI could A) let people know from the outset that the films, once uploaded, are not there for the duration of the membership, and B) if, having made this clear, you were to let people know how long a film has left before you take it down, so that films people want to see aren't there one day and gone the next. I may be being blind, but I cannot find it mentioned anywhere about the brief nature of the contracts you have on these films. An oversight, surely?

Dear MUBI Team

First I wanna say how much I love your selection of hard-to-find titles, indie productions and cinema classics. I wish i could watch all 11k movies, but I understand how hard the whole licensing process is in europe.

Now for the problems I have with your service.

The PS3 interface, while aesthetically pleasing, is a clunky and slow. Furthermore I always get disconnected from MUBI and have to restart the whole app after watching a movie. Both things ain't that much trouble but still very annoying.

Language options and subtitle selection. Now thats something I really dislike about your service: I set my PS3 to english, I set my MUBI account to english. Reservoir Dogs is only avaible in german with german subs. Does this mean you don't have the rights for the english audio channel/subs? Then there are movies like "Pan's Labyrinth" that only streams in spanish with french (?!) subs. I speak neither language making the movie unwatchable for me. Thats a really sad state of affairs. Could this be due to my location (switzerland)?

Video quality: Now don't get me wrong, I do not expect 1080p streams with 7.1 audio, but most of your movies are not even DVD quality (I am talking about bigger releases here, not indy productions or art films).

Stream performance: I am not sure if this is a problem with the PS3 client or your service in general. Loading times are not so bad, having to wait another 10-15 seconds every time you skip forward/backward is. I am on a 50Mbit/sec cable connection and your service is the only one producing this issues.
It has not lagged while watching a movie to this day, so thats a plus.
Also, how can I reset a movie in the PS3 client. When I stop a movie while watching and come back to it later, there is no option to start from the beginning of the movie. Due to the issues above, rewinding manually isn't an option (also: Rewinding digital media as if it would be tape? Seriously?)

Another big issue: watching your stuff mobile. I use an android tab running jelly bean. No chance to watch MUBI on the go without doin some sideloading/installing of obsolete software.

Another not so big issue: It really sucks when there is a movie on the main-feature page (PS3) that is not avaible at my location.

Again, I really enjoy your selection of movies and the general idea behind this service. Sadly, I cannot justify paying for it in its current state. Maybe I got something wrong? I would be glad if some of this issues are just missunderstandings/idiocy on my part. Because I really want to love your service.

The page for Soderbergh's Side Effects (http://mubi.com/films/side-effects--2) is currently missing the DP, likely due to it not being listed on IMDB.

Having seen the film last night, the DP is Steven Soderbergh (under the guise of Peter Andrews as usual).

Who's horrible idea is the 1-film-a-day policy?

Dear Mubi team,
I regret to inform you that I have just terminated my subscription to your service. I have enjoyed using Mubi a lot in the past, it simply has the best collection of films I have seen on streaming sites. However I am extremely dissatisfied with the 30-films-a-month policy. I do not want to be dictated to re: the films I watch, I want a library of films I can watch at will. The "choice" of 30 films chosen/dictated by you, with all due respect, is not what I am willing to pay for. This is a horrible idea, Mubi was perfect as it was, why change it?!

Limited Film selection

Hi,

Just joined Mubi only to find there is a very limited selection of films available to watch in the UK ( 64 only). I was expecting a much wider choice. Also, among those 64 films, 20 are music documentaries!
Not sure I want to remain subscribed if my options are going to be so limited. On that restricted selection there is no much I really want to watch. I can see there is good cinema criteria here, it is just only not enough of it to cater for personal taste.

While browsing your website today I saw a couple of recent films I really fancied watching so, I decided to subscribe only to find out neither of them were available.

How often do you update the films and how many are new everyday? Is there any chance Mubi will be offering a much larger selection in the near future?

This is ridiculous. As I have seen from other people posting on this site, none of these are problems only I have faced.

I was unable to cancel the free trial I signed up for through my ps3. I may or may not now have another account, since I attempted to then do this online and canceling was horribly unclear.
I now find I have been charged £23.99 for an annual subscription when I check my bank account, even though the advertised rate when I signed up for the trial was £2.99/month.
Following this, I cannot find any way of contacting a customer service representative to discuss this with other than posting here. Is there not a phone number I could call?

If a MUBI rep reads this, please contact me on the email address linked to this account to resolve these issues.

So frustrating, so disappointing. I love the idea of Mubi and I love the range of films on offer, But constant problems with slow and freezing streaming mean that I will not be able to sign up after my free trial. I'm so sorry about this. I would also agree with other people that the audio level is often so low that it's impossible to use on laptop without earphones. But the real problem for me is the streaming.

Mark your favorite films and get a reminder email

Hi,
I'm quiet new to Mubi, but I enjoy it very much. But what I miss is some kind of checkbox to mark a film I'd really like to see, but dont have the time to right away.
So my idea is, to inclued a small checkbox in each filmsite with which you can mark this film as a favorite, and you get a reminder email when this film is going to expiere. Due to traffic reasons or whatever you can even limit the amounts of favs at one time, to five at once for example.
I'd be very pleased, cause thats the final piece to make this service perfect! (next to hd streaming :D)
